Ask employees to write down their hours to keep track of admin hours.

Admin hours is short for administrative hours. It refers to the management of working hours for administrative workers, who work in offices and handle paperwork. It can also refer to the managing of administrative office hours, such as creating the ideal opening hours to suit your customers. To properly manage administrative hours, have a plan in place that can help you keep track of time spent on administrative work or have dedicated administrative office hours to suit your customers.

Instructions

  1. Managing Opening Hours

    • 1

Allow your customers or clients to determine your best working hours. For example, if you are a government office issuing driver licenses or health cards, ensure your availability for people during their lunch hours or after work. If you are running a gym, stay open during the entire day, as some people may only be able to work out at 6 a.m. or 9 p.m.

    • 2

Be open during the peak hours of the day which is usually when people most need your administrative services. For working people, this includes early mornings before work, between 11 am and 2 pm for lunch breaks and after working hours, such as after 5 pm.

    • 3

Have one day a week where your administrative office is open for longer hours. While many offices have their hours set till 5 pm, some others close at 6 pm. One day a week may be enough to serve those customers who are not available to come in before 5 pm or 6 pm.

    • 4

Consider having your office open a few hours on the weekend to suit busy customers.

    Managing Working Hours

    • 5

Have a staff meeting to inform your employees about the management of working hours. Inform them about the revised administrative hours and how this will be reflected in their weekly earnings.

    • 6

Get punch cards or hour cards, where administrative employees can write down their hours. A punch card is a more effective system for larger organizations to keep track of employees hours. Writing the working hours down on a card, gives people the opportunity to cheat with an extra hour or two.

    • 7

Ensure that your customers are made aware of your newly expanded work hours through printed notices, mailings and advertisements.
