How to Find Out If a Neighbor Is Running a Illegal Business
When someone on your street is running an illegal business, such as a drug dealership, it can have negative effects on the community such as vandalism, graffiti, violence, drug use and other undesirable behavior, all of which reflect poorly on your entire neighborhood. There are several things you can do to increase your awareness of illegal businesses in your neighborhood so you can report them to the police.

1
Observe your neighbor's home from the outside. If your neighbor is running an illegal business, there may be excessive foot traffic to and from the house (or apartment), loitering around the area and open exchanges of money and drugs. If you notice a chemical smell coming from your neighbor's property, this could indicate a meth lab.

2
Look for changes in the community since the neighbor moved in. An increase in graffiti, gang activity, criminal activity and drug use, especially if these activities are concentrated around your neighbor's house, can be signs of an illegal business.

3
Speak to your other neighbors to see if they have noticed anything suspicious about the neighbor in question. If you live in an apartment building, speak to the landlord about your suspicions.
-
4
Write a log of suspicious activities you've noticed and give it to a police officer.
-
5
Organize a neighborhood watch with neighbors you know and trust. Together, you can look for suspicious activity and report it to the police.
