Place a shop rag on the area you will be cleaning the injectors. Take a small bowl and put a little bit of diesel fuel in it.

    • 2

Take one injector and remove the copper washer. You can pry the washer off carefully with a screwdriver. Place the washer on the shop rag.

    • 3

Set your torque wrench for 30 psi and remove the nut. Place it on the shop rag.

    • 4

Open the injector carefully and remove the parts. Place the items -- in order as you remove them -- on the shop rag. Take a pen and mark on the shop rag the order that you took them out of the injector. You can trace around the items for more accuracy. Place washer, nut and items removed from the injector in the bowl of diesel fuel to soak.

    • 5

Take an old scratch pad that is soft and rub the nozzle clean of any debris. Check the pintle, or needle, for any damage and check the nozzle for smooth sliding.

    • 6

Dip the nozzle in the diesel fuel and gently blow out any dirt in the fuel holes. You can use a blow gun or a spray can of air that is used to clean the dirt off of computer keyboards. Blow out all the large parts.

    • 7

Assemble the injector, making sure the parts are put back just as they came out. Repeat Steps 2 through 6 for each injector.
