How to Turn Off the Auto-Dimming on the Sony KDL-40S5100

The Sony KDL-40S5100 high definition television set includes an "auto-dimming" feature that will automatically adjust the brightness of the unit based on how much light is available in the room. If the room you're in is very bright, the television will brighten itself to compensate. If the room is very dark or you're watching at night, the television will automatically dim itself. This feature can be turned off through the TV's main menu system.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Sony KDL-40S5100.

2. Press "Menu" on the unit's remote control to bring up the on-screen menu system.

3. Highlight "Video" and press the remote's "OK" button to enter the video related sub-menu.

4. Highlight "Auto-Dimming" and press the remote's "OK" button to bring up two selections: "On" and "Off."

5. Select "Off" and press the remote's "OK" button to turn off the auto-dimming feature on the Sony KDL-40S5100.
