How to String a Clasp
Making your own jewelry gives you the opportunity to create pieces that nobody else has. While there are many styles of beading, one skill that every jewelry maker needs to know is how to string and attach the clasp. It might fell overwhelming at first because of the multiple parts needed to complete just that one step, but with a little practice you'll be able to string the clasp in just seconds.
Things You'll Need
- Jewelry wire
- Crimp tubes
- Lobster jewelry clasp
- Split ring
- Nose pliers
- Jewelry beads
Instructions

1
String a crimp tube, sold at craft stores or online, over to the end of the jewelry wire you wish to use.
-
2
String the end of wire around a lobster jewelry clasp and back down the crimp tube until about an inch of wire is protruding from the opposite end of the crimp tube. There should now be two pieces of wire in the crimp tube, going in and around the clasp before coming back down.

3
Squeeze the crimp tube flat with a pair of nose pliers to secure the clasp.
-
4
String a few jewelry beads with the wire and make sure the double wire section just below the crimp tube are covered. Add another crimp tube and flatten it with the pliers to secure the beads in place. Bead the rest of the piece of jewelry as desired.
-
5
String another crimp tube at the other end of the piece of jewlery when you are finished adding beads. Then string the end of the wire through a split ring then back down into the crimp tube. Squeeze the crimp tube with the pliers to secure.
