Buy a mobile phone data-recovery kit. This comes with a USB device that you can plug your phone's SIM (subscriber identity module) into. Some examples of kits include Pro Data Doctor, SIM Card Recovery and SIM Card Spy, ranging in price from $50 to $125.

Turn the phone off and take out the battery. Remove the phone's SIM card - this is the white rectangular plastic chip under the battery.

Slide the SIM card into one end of the USB reader. There will be a slot provided for it. Plug the USB end into an available port on your computer. The computer's operating system will recognize a new hardware device and request that you install drivers.

Click "Have Disk" and put the CD-Rom from your kit into your computer's drive. Click "Next" and agree with the "Terms and Agreements." Click "Next" again and the drivers and software will install. When complete, click "OK" and restart the computer.

Click on the computer's "Start" menu and find the application. Go to "File," select "Download Data" and the memory from the mobile SIM card will be downloaded into the software application.
