Check with past dance organizers at your school or in the local area for DJ recommendations. Many DJs will lower their prices if the event is a repeat, or offers the possibility for regular gigs.

    • 5

Ask questions of a potential DJ hires. Examples of questions might include: "What time will you arrive for set-up?"-- Most DJs need a minimum of an hour. "Do you have a back-up system or DJ in case of illness or equipment failure?" Or "Do you have a song list and can guests make requests?" If desired, you should ask, "Do you offer any additional options such as karaoke, contests or props?"
