IPhone SDK is available for Windows.

IPhone SDK is the developing platform for IPhone applications. There was a time when using the IPhone SDK was only possible if you had a Mac. There is now a second option available in order for you to use IPhone SDK on Windows using VMWare Workstation and a Mac OSX installation CD.

Instructions

      Download and install VMWare workstation onto your desktop (see Resources).

      Create an empty folder on the desktop. Download a Darwin program (see Resources) and extract the contents of the Darwin file. Save the contents in the new folder you just created on your desktop. Open and run the VMWare workstation. Click on the "Open Existing Files" folder on the main page. Select "Darwin VMX" which is stored in the folder you just created on your desktop.

      Click on the "Power on This Virtual Machine" button. On the following screen, select "I Moved It" Your virtual machine will begin to boot up.

      Insert the Mac OS X 10.5 installations disk into your computer. Run the program.

      Click back on the "VMWare" program. Select "VM," "Removable Devices," "CD/DVD" and "Settings."

      Select "Use Physical Drive" and choose the location where you inserted your MAC OS. Press "OK" at the boot prompt. Select the HEX code listed at the end of the script and then hit "Enter." The installation will begin. Follow the prompts until the "Select Destination" screen appears.

      Navigate to the Disk Utilities in the Utilities menu. Click on "Disk Utilities." Select "32 GB VMWare Virtual ID."

      Exit out of the Disk Utilities screen and allow the program to install. This could take up to an hour.

    • 10

      Press "Enter" at the boot menu when the program is installed. Type in "80" when the prompt asks for what to use for the first hard drive. Press "Enter." Wait while the machine reboots.

      Launch X code after the reboot. Iphone SDK can now be used on your Windows PC.
