How to Grow Cala Lilies in Containers
Calla lily, or Zantedeshia aethiopica, grows from bulbs, rhizomes or tubers. Calla lilies can mature to a height of up to 2 feet tall. The plants produce stunning trumpet-shaped, fragrant blossoms in various colors, like red, yellow, white, pink and purple. Native to South Africa, the calla lily grows best in USDA hardiness zones 9 to 11 outside. Those living in other areas of the country can grow calla lilies in containers or pots. Use one 6-inch pot to plant each calla lily bulb. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Fill containers that have drainage holes with good-quality potting soil.
-
2
Dig a hole to a depth that is twice the size of the calla lily bulb. This may vary depending on the variety selected.
-
-
3
Place the side of the calla lily bulb with the most "eyes" facing up, and then cover with soil.
-
4
Soak the containers with water to moisten the soil thoroughly. Water the calla lilies only when needed to keep the soil moist, but not soggy.
-
5
Place the containers in locations providing full sunlight.
-
6
Apply a slow-release fertilizer as directed after the plants emerge and again in the spring each year. Or use a water-soluble fertilizer weekly throughout the growing season.
