How to Troubleshoot WebEx Editor
Cisco's WebEx editing software allows you to manage, modify and save WebEx online audio and video conferences. The program is fairly intuitive, working in tandem with your web browser for one-click editing. However, as with any program, problems can arise. If your WebEx editing software is on the fritz, there are methods available to troubleshoot the program.
Instructions
-
Media Troubleshooting
-
1
Click on the "Start" menu.
-
2
Click on "Control Panel." This will open a new window.
-
-
3
Click on "System and Security." Several new options will appear.
-
4
Click on "Device Manager" underneath the "System" heading. The Device Manager will open in a new window.
-
5
Click on the heading labeled "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." The heading will expand into a sub-directory containing information about your PC's audio driver. If your WebEx files are experiencing media problems, then chances are there is something wrong with your computer's audio or video drivers. To restore WebEx editing functionality, you must fix your drivers.
-
6
Right-click on the audio driver. A list of options will appear.
-
7
Click "Update Driver Software." This will trigger an automatic update of the audio driver files. In many cases, a simple update will correct known audio errors. If the update does not work, then click on "Properties."
-
8
Select the "Driver" tab at the top of the Properties window.
-
9
Click "Roll Back Driver." This will revert your audio driver to a previous state when it functioned better. Updating the driver often fixes issues, but in some rare instances the newest version may not be compatible with your PC. Rolling back the driver fixes any potential compatibility issues when updating does not fix the issue.
-
10
Repeat Steps 6 through 9 for the video driver.
Software Troubleshooting
-
11
Return to the "System and Security" window. With assurance that your audio and video drivers are functioning, your next step is to repair any software issues with WebEx.
-
12
Click on "Action Center" at the top of the screen.
-
13
Browse the "Maintenance" section for any error logs that reference WebEx. According to Microsoft, the Action Center's Maintenance log keeps track of problems with your computer, offering fixes to common errors.
-
14
Click on "View Message Details" for any WebEx errors. This will take you to a new screen listing any available patches for the selected error.
-
15
Click to install the patches, thereby updating WebEx and repairing known errors. This should correct most software issues. Any software problems that are not patched by the Action Center are likely major system errors requiring the assistance of a trained computer technician.
