How to Change Working Time in Microsoft Projects

Microsoft Project is an application that is used by managers and project leaders to schedule workers and tasks for different projects. Almost every aspect of the schedule can be customized by the project creator, including the calendar and work schedule. Project employs a Monday through Friday work schedule with a 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. workday by default. It is possible to adjust the work time if a project will be operating on a different schedule, however.

      Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your screen, then select "Programs" or "All Programs."

      Scroll to "Microsoft Office" and select it, then click "Microsoft Project."

      Click "Tools" at the top of the screen, then select the "Options" item.

      Select the "Calendar" tab at the top of the window.

      Change the "Default Start Time" and "Default End Time" to match your project's schedule. Note that you can also configure the weekly and monthly schedule from this menu. Click the "OK" button when you are done.

Tips & Warnings

  • Change the Base Calendar by clicking "View," "Resource," then the "Base Cal" column. You can adjusting the schedule there.

  • You can adjust a specific resource's calendar by clicking "Tools", then "Change Working Time." Select the resource from the "For" drop-down menu and specify his or her schedule using the calendar and the menu in the right column.
