How to Change the Speakers on a Sony DAV-HDX265

It's possible to connect most speakers designed for home use to the Sony DAV-HDX265.

The Sony DAV-HDX265 is a DVD home theater system. It's part of the company's Bravia range and featuresa DVD changer, HDMI connectivity and Sony's Digital Media Port that allows the unit to sync with wireless and Bluetooth devices. Despite these relatively advanced technological features, replacing the unit's speakers couldn't be easier.

Instructions

1. Buy your replacement speaker from an electrical retailer or online. You'll need to make sure that you are buying a speaker with similar specifications to the one that you're replacing to achieve the desired results. The DAV-HDX265 serves a sub woofer, two front speakers and two surround sound speakers.

2. Disconnect the speaker cable from the back of the old speaker by pushing down the tabs on the "in" ports and pulling the cable out.

3. Connect the speaker cable to the new speaker ensuring that you insert the positive and the negative wires correctly. Also make sure that there is no bare wire protruding from either port to avoid the risk of short circuit.

Tips & Warnings

• If you want to connect speakers using new speaker wire, disconnect the old speaker wires on the back of the receiver. Make sure that you connect the new speakers and wires to the proper input; the front right speaker to the front right connection, and so on.
