Switch between programs using keyboard shortcuts.

Depending on the speed of your PC, Microsoft Windows can run many programs at the same time. Faster computers can run an Internet browser, Microsoft Office programs, a music player, a picture viewer and more without any noticeable system slowdown. But switching between programs can be a problem when you have too many running. The Windows task bar can get overloaded and you sometimes cannot easily use your mouse to jump from one program to another. Fortunately, you can always use the Windows keyboard shortcuts to toggle between multiple programs.

Instructions

    • 1

Open multiple programs such as a web browser and multimedia player. How many you can open at one time is dependent on your computer speed.

    • 2

Press "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Tab" on your keyboard.

    • 3

Press the left and right arrows to move between programs, then press "Enter" to toggle to the selected program. You can also click the left mouse button to select the program. Alternatively, you can simply press "Ctrl" and "Tab" to scroll between open programs, and release the buttons once you have highlighted the program you wish to switch to.
