How to Turn on a Qwest DSL Wireless Modem on a Gateway
A Qwest wireless modem can work with a Gateway computer very easily. As long as you have the papers with the address information and setup information that Qwest gave you, you can easily turn on the wireless modem so you can access the Internet right from your Gateway computer. Once you've done so, you can also access the Internet from any other computer with wireless Internet access.

1
Plug the Qwest wireless modem into the Internet source where it comes into your home. Typically this will be a phone jack that has been adapted to carry broadband or DSL. If you aren't sure which phone jack or where the Internet enters your home, contact the local Qwest number you called to get your Internet service.

Plug the wireless modem into the wall outlet and make sure the power light is on. If you don't see any lights, contact your Qwest dealer because there is something wrong with the unit. Lights should come on right away, even though you still have to turn on the service by setting it up.

Turn on your Gateway computer that has a wireless antenna. Nearly all laptops made after 2005 have wireless capabilities. Click on a Web browser. In the address bar, type the numeric address that Qwest gave you when you paid for your Internet service (an example is 192.168.0.1). Hit "enter" after you type the address. You will see your Qwest modem setup page; choose wireless setup and select which type of wireless security you wish to use. Follow the prompts and input the information about your account, including user names and passwords you received from Qwest. Once you are finished, click "Submit" or "Setup" and your modem will fully turn on and access the Internet.
