How to Activate the Backup Battery on a Cell Phone
The average lifespan of a cell phone battery is 300 to 400 charge cycles, after which you will need to buy a new battery to continue using your phone. It is also a good idea to have a back-up battery handy, in case of an electrical emergency or if you break or lose your charger. Back-up batteries can be purchased at most electronics or department stores, and are generally easy to activate.

Turn off your cell phone

Remove the cover on the back of your phone to expose the battery compartment and slide out the original battery.

Insert your back-up battery and replace the cover.

Turn on your phone. This will work, as the phone will automatically detect the replacement battery and draw power from it.
