How to Kill Mold With Vinegar & Boric
Mildew and mold spores can occur in any moist, humid environment or when moisture is allowed to remain on surfaces for extended periods of time. Exposure to mold can cause health problems, including infections, breathing problems, allergies and/or skin rashes. It is important to thoroughly clean and remove mold from surfaces in the home where it is evident or suspected to be growing. Using vinegar and boric acid can be an effective method to removing mold and should only be done by a person in good health who is wearing protective clothing and gear over their eyes and mouth. Open all nearby windows and doors, if possible, to provide a well-ventilated area while cleaning.

Combine 3 cups water with 1 cup boric acid (also known as Borax) and 1 cup white vinegar into a clean spray bottle. Shake the bottle to mix well. During cleaning, continue to shake the bottle often to keep the mixture well combined.

Spray onto the affected surface and allow to sit for at least 15 minutes.

Pour white vinegar on to a clean sponge and use to scrub away the remaining mold.

Spray a new layer of the boric acid mixture over the surface again and allow it to dry, which will form a protective layer of boric crystals to prevent against regrowth of mold.

Tips & Warnings
Vacuum any carpets in the area with a HEPA filtered vacuum, if possible, to remove any mildew spores from the carpet.
