How to Block Unwanted Callers With Alltel Prepaid
Verizon acquired Alltel Wireless at the beginning of 2009, as part of a deal that created the nation's largest mobile service provider. While most customers had their account rolled over to the Verizon brand, many markets still operate under the Alltel name, with phones and service being backed by the Verizon network. Those using the Alltel brand have a number of calling features available, including the ability to block calls from specific numbers. Take a few simple steps to stop unwanted or harassing telephone calls.

Make note of the phone number that is being blocked. If you are receiving unwanted telephone calls from a specific number, block that number individually.

Contact customer service. From your Alltel phone, call *611 to contact a customer service agent. If you are calling from an outside line, go to Alltel.com and enter your zip code in order to receive the local customer service number for your market.
Provide customer service with the telephone number you would like to block. You will be asked for the telephone number and the reason you are blocking the calls. You may also be asked if you know the name associated with the telephone number, but that information is not required in order to block the calls.

Use an app to block numbers. Many Alltel phones are BlackBerry devices. If you use one of these phones, download BlackBerry's PrivacyManager App to block unwanted calls from specific numbers, or to block anonymous callers. The PrivacyManager App is available from the BlackBerry App World at a cost of $15.99. It allows users to treat unwanted calls in a number of different ways, as well as blocking unwanted emails and SMS messages.

Add your number to the national Do Not Call list. This will prevent unwanted calls from telemarketers by blocking sales calls to your Alltel prepaid phone, so that you aren't paying to receive a sales call. You can register your telephone number in the national do not call registry by visiting the official government website at donotcall.gov. This service is provided free of charge.

Tips & Warnings
You can log into your prepaid account at Alltel.com in order to control your blocked numbers list. This allows you to add and remove telephone numbers from your blocked list over the Internet.
