How Do I Get Rid of the Message Grouping View in Outlook Web Access 2007?

When you click on an Outlook header in your email inbox, your inbox email is grouped using the header's information. For instance, if you click "Last Name," the inbox is grouped by sender's last name. The default setting is listing email by the received date. Using this default setting removes the grouping and lists your inbox email by the date, which lets you see incoming email as it is received.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button and click "All Programs." Click "Microsoft Office" and then click "Microsoft Outlook." This opens your email application.

    • 2

Click the "Receive Date" header column at the top of the email inbox window. This removes the grouping, regardless of what you currently have set as your grouping configuration.

    • 3

Click the "Send/Receive" button in your toolbar. This retrieves any new email from your email server. Notice that your new email is now listed at the top of your list, so you can quickly find unread email in your mailbox.

In Outlook 2007 local mail client, the grouping can be removed by going to "View" menu, "Arrange By" submenu, and unchecking the "Show in Groups" option. The solution posted will only re-order your email, it will not remove grouping. More to point, there does not appear to be any way to do this in Outlook Web Access (using IE to access email server via network / internet). One alternative is to use a different web browser (e.g. Firefox) that does not support the grouping option in OWA.
