Use the "Adblock Plus" add-on if you are using Firefox as your Web browser. Download the add-on from Adblockplus.org (See Resources). Once downloaded, restart Firefox and click the "Tools" option at the top of your Firefox toolbar. Select "Add-ons," choose the "Adblock Plus" option and click the "Options" button. Click "Add Filter" and copy and paste "http://*.googlesyndication.com/" into the filter box. This will filter out all Google-based ads. If you want to filter more ads, select more filters to enter from the list that automatically pops up at the end of the install.

Enable "InPrivate Filtering" if you are using Internet Explorer 8. Do this by clicking "Safety" on the toolbar and selecting "InPrivate Filtering." From here, select the level of blocking you would like. You can automatically block all content-ad providers, such as Google, or a select few.
