How to Write a Good Objective on a Resume for an Administrative Assistant thumbnail
When applying for an administrative assistant job, your objective should state your applicable qualities.

A strong objective is an important component of your resume, as it is the first section your potential employer will read when you apply for a position as an administrative assistant. The intent of the objective is to give the employer a short statement that summarizes your intent to secure a position as an administrative assistant at that particular company. It should also outline a few of the qualities or skills that the job demands and that you possess, making you the ideal candidate for the position.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down the specific job title, the name of the company and two to three qualifications you possess that are impressive and relevant to the position. You will need to revise your objective slightly for each job you apply for in order to customize it as much as possible.

    • 2

Write a rough draft statement that uses each of the components you wrote in Step 1. The statement does not have to be a complete sentence and should not use first person ("I"). Begin with a description of the position you seek, such as "Position as an administrative assistant in a diverse school district."

    • 3

End the statement by describing, using action verbs, skills demanded from an administrative assistant that your resume will go on to prove that you possess. For example, "...where experience as a liaison between parents and administrators, scheduling meetings, distributing agendas and managing timetables is essential to the effectiveness of the staff."
