Instructions

  1. Finding the Network

    • 1

Open your "Network Connections" (PC), or "Airport" (Mac) page to see if the computer is connected to the wireless network. If the network does not appear while the computer's wireless capabilities are enabled, then you may not be close enough to the router. Bring the computer as close as possible to the router.

    • 2

If your computer still cannot find the router, reduce signal interference between the router and computer. Move any microwaves or large objects so that they do not come between the router and computer.

    • 3

Reset your modem, router and computer in that order. For the modem and router, be sure that they are unplugged for at least 10 seconds. This step will solve the majority of network problems.

    • 4

If you can connect to the router but don't know the password, consult the wireless router's manual on how to manually reset the password.

    Connecting to the Web

    • 5

Disconnect the laptop from the wireless internet network and then reconnect. Make sure to wait at least 10 seconds before reconnecting to the network.

    • 6

If you can connect to the router but don't know the password, consult the wireless router's manual on how to manually reset the password.

    • 7

Try multiple websites to make sure it is not the site that is down.

    • 8

Contact your Internet Service Provider to see if there are any problems with the network which might be affecting your connection to the Internet.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the signal is weak in the place you normally use your computer, consider purchasing an additional access point to strengthen your connection.
