How to Compress the Size of PowerPoint Documents

Compressing the size of a PowerPoint document is useful when your hard drive is low on space or you wish to email the PowerPoint document to a coworker. This task can be done on a Mac or PC using the utility software provided on your computer to zip the PowerPoint document.

Instructions

  1. On a Mac

      Open the Finder.

      Navigate through your computer files using the Finder to select the PowerPoint document or documents you would like to compress.

      Control-click each PowerPoint document you would like to compress. Then select "Create Archive Of." After doing so, a compressed zip file of the PowerPoint document will appear next to the original. You have now successfully compressed the size of PowerPoint documents.

    On a PC

      Click the "Start" button and select "Computer."

      Navigate through your computer files using the Windows Explorer window that opens to select the PowerPoint document or documents you would like to compress.

      Right-click each PowerPoint document you would like to compress. Then select "Send to" and choose "Compressed (zipped) Folder." After doing so, a compressed zip file of the PowerPoint document will appear next to the original. You have now successfully compressed the size of PowerPoint documents.
