My BlackBerry Curve Won't Recognize a Media Card

My BlackBerry Curve Won't Recognize a Media Card thumbnail
Your media card can store audio, video and pictures.

The memory card, also known as the media card, for the BlackBerry Curve is used to store picture, music and video files. When the media card is inserted into the BlackBerry Curve, you can store all of these files on the media card instead of your device memory. Taking up too much device memory can cause the device to run slow and sometimes crash. If your BlackBerry Curve will not recognize the memory card, you will not be able to save your media on that media card.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the menu key, on the Home screen. The menu key is the key on the left of the trackball with the BlackBerry symbol on it. This key will take you to the applications screen.

    • 2

Click on the options icon, which looks like a wrench or tool, with the trackball.

    • 3

Click on the words "Media Card" with the trackball.

    • 4

      Press the menu key.

    • 5

Click "Format" with the trackball to format the card.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before formatting the card, remove the battery with the device still on and leave it out for 30 seconds. Once the battery is returned and the media card still is not recognized, make sure that media card is properly inserted in its casing. Once formatting is complete, the card is ready for use.

  • Improper seating of the media card or a damaged media card will also give the error that the media card is not detected. If this happens, a new media card is needed.
