How to Clean a Plexiglas Patio Roof

Plexiglas is often chosen for patio roofing because it is durable and weather resistant. But this strong material is easy to scratch and damage with the wrong cleaning products and methods. Abrasive scrubbers can create fine scratches in the surface that leave it looking hazy. Ammonia-based cleaners will slowly degrade the produce and render it opaque. The best supplies for cleaning your Plexiglas patio roof are a sponge scrubber, water, and gentle liquid detergent soap.

Things You'll Need

• Hose
• Bucket
• Liquid detergent
• Sponge mop

Instructions

1. Rinse the Plexiglas patio roof off with a spray from a hose to dislodge any loose dirt particles.

2. Mix a solution of eight teaspoons of liquid detergent and a gallon of warm water (or one teaspoon per pint of water).

3. Dip a sponge mop into the cleaning solution and use it to mop the patio roof. Dip the mop into the bucket frequently to remove accumulated dirt.

4. Rinse the roof clean with water from the hose.
