How to Find the Temporary Backup of a Deleted File in Word
In order to recover the temporary backup of a deleted file in Microsoft Word, you need to perform a search for AutoRecover files on your system. These are files that are created by the program in the event of a crash or if a power outage occurs. The process of searching for these files will vary depending on the version of Word installed on your system.

Open Microsoft Word.

Click the "File" menu, and select the option for "Recent."

Click the option for "Recover Unsaved Documents."
Word 2007

Open Microsoft Word. Locate and click the "Microsoft Office" button in the upper left corner of the program.

Select "Word Options."

Click the "Save" button, and make a note of the path that is in the "AutoRecover file location" text box. Click the "Cancel" button.

Click the Windows "Start" button, and click "Computer." Double-click the (C:), and go to the folder location you noted earlier.

Right-click on any (.asd) file, and select "Open With" from the context menu. Select "Microsoft Word" for the program to open the file.
