How to Upgrade a Centrino Processor

      Shut down the laptop and remove the battery.

      Remove the screws from the underside of the laptop and lift off the panels on the bottom of the case.

      Unscrew the copper heatsink from the laptop CPU slot and lift it out of the system. Lift the metal retaining lever on the side of the socket and lift the CPU chip out of the system.

      Insert the new CPU chip in place and lock it into position with the retaining lever. Install the heatsink that came with your new processor according to the directions in the box.
