How to Access CDDB on Nero

If you've ever wondered how a media program like Windows Media Player or iTunes knows the artist name and album title associated with a song immediately after you import it into the program, it's because the programs automatically connect to an online database and retrieve that information. Nero ShowTime also uses a similar database, called the "CDDB" or "Gracenote." If you want to access this information for songs in your playlist via the CDDB in Nero ShowTime, you just have to select the appropriate option.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Nero ShowTime using its "Start" menu shortcut icon.

    • 2

Open the Nero ShowTime playlist by clicking on the "Playlist" button in the program's tool bar. The playlist window will expand from the right side of the main program window.

    • 3

Right-click on the song you want to download information for. If you want to perform this task for multiple songs, highlight them all and then right-click on any one of them.

    • 4

Click "Get Meta Data." Nero ShowTime will connect to the CDDB and download the appropriate information for the selected file(s).
