Download and install an anti-spyware program onto your computer. This will prevent viruses or spam from slowing down your Internet speed.

Click the "Start" tab at the bottom left of your computer and go to "Run." Type MSconfig into the type bar and click the "Start Up" tab that appears. Now delete any unnecessary programs you have on your computer. This will clear file space and help all programs run faster.

Delete all unnecessary files from your documents, pictures and video files. You can save these items to an external hard disk if you want a backup copy. Clearing out as much of this space as possible will create cookie space, thus allowing the Internet to run faster.

Click the "Start" tab again and go to "Tools." Click "Internet Options" and then "Security." Click the Internet globe and select "Custom Level." Click on each of the following and choose "Disable": Download Unsigned ActiveX Controls, Initialize And Script ActiveX Controls Not Marked As Safe, Active Scripting, Scripting Of Java Applets. This will prevent spam from slowing down your Internet speed time.
