How to Adjust Paragraph Indent in PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint's slide show software, part of Microsoft Office Suite, may be your choice for creating a presentation, as the software automates everything from creating new bullets for your slide text to the buttons that take viewers from slide to slide. While PowerPoint comes configured with a variety of defaults, especially for the way slides initially appear, you have complete control to make changes. For options such as adjusting paragraph indenting, for example, a couple of quick clicks will give your slides a whole new look.

Instructions

    • 1

Open PowerPoint, click the "File" tab and select "Open." Browse to the presentation with the slide paragraphs to adjust, and double-click the file. The presentation opens in the PowerPoint workspace with the title or first slide showing.

    • 2

Scroll to the slide with the paragraph indents to adjust. Use the slide deck on the left side of the screen or press the "Page Down" button.

    • 3

Click into the text box with the paragraph indent to adjust. Right-click the paragraph to adjust and select "Paragraph" to open the "Paragraph" window.

    • 4

Nudge the "Before Text" box under the "Indentation" section up to your preferred adjusted indentation. Click the "OK" button to close the "Paragraph" window, and the paragraph is automatically changed to the new indentation.
