Install an In-Line Noise Filter

An in-line noise filter is a type of device that used for DSL Internet connections. DSL Internet connections use regular phone lines to connect your computer to the Web at high speeds. If no filter is installed on your phone line, the digital noise from the telephone will interfere with the signals being used for the Internet connection. You will have to install an in-line noise filter on every phone in your home.

Instructions

Unplug the phone cord from your phone jack. Do not unplug it from the phone itself -- instead, unplug the other end that connects directly to the phone jack in your wall.

    • 3

Plug the other end of the in-line noise filter into the phone cable that is connected to your telephone. Your in-line noise filter is now installed.

    • 4

Repeat these steps for every other phone in your home.
