How to Make a Frozen Summer Drink
Frozen drinks are a cool treat during the hot summer months. Choose a recipe with simple ingredients that mix together to create a flavorful treat for parties or for sipping while relaxing on a warm day. Freezing overnight can eliminate the blender but still result in a slushy cocktail. Make this recipe with or without alcohol. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 2 cups strong tea
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 8 cups water
- 12 oz. frozen lemonade
- 12 oz. frozen orange juice
- 1 ½ cups rum or whiskey (optional)
- Freezer safe punch bowl

Defrost the frozen lemonade and orange juice. Place them in a refrigerator overnight or in a container of hot water until they are liquid.

Boil the tea by heating in the microwave or on a stovetop. Remove from heat and dissolve the sugar in the tea, stirring until sugar is no longer visible.

Mix the lemonade, orange juice, tea and cold water in a freezer safe punch bowl.

Add rum or whiskey, if desired. Stir well.

Cover the punch bowl. Place in the mix in a freezer for 24 hours. Remove the punch bowl from the freezer about 30 minutes prior to serving. Use a spoon to break the drink into pieces. It should thaw into a thick slush. Serve in cocktail glasses.

Tips & Warnings
Add 1/4 cup grenadine for a cherry flavor.
Top the drink with orange or lime sections for added color.
Fill gallon-size freezer bags with the mix, seal and lay flat in freezer. This will save freezer space.
Do not freeze any glass container that is not labeled "freezer safe" as it could crack or shatter.
