How to Test Internet Reception Speeds

Using free Internet speed tests you can determine your Internet connection speeds. These tests will download a file to your computer (temporarily) and then upload it to their servers. Your overall connection speed is based on how fast the file is transferred. Due to the inconsistency of Internet connections, these tests should only be used to give you an idea of how your reception is at the time of the test. Running background programs such as firewalls, antivirus and other applications that use bandwidth can affect the results of the test.
