Fold the hinge on the earpieces inward. While all folding eyeglasses are made with folding hinges on the earpieces, some hinges are made to fold the ends inward, while others are made to fold the ends outward. Gently tug the earpieces to attempt to bend them in both directions to see which way they go. Fold them all the way in that direction.

Lay the folded earpieces against the backs of the lenses. Press them gently into place to avoid scratching the lenses.

Fold the glasses in half at the joint at the noisepiece. Grip them by the lenses as you fold, positioning your fingers around the outside of the rims, one hand on each lens. Fold until you can't compact the glasses any further to get them down to their minimal carrying size.

Place the glasses in their case. With a clamshell case, lay the glasses in the bottom of the case. Make sure the edges and tips of the glasses are free of the edges of the case before closing. With a tube case, slide the glasses in carefully. Press the lenses side against one of the walls of the tube to keep the corners and tips of the glasses further from the walls on the other side, preventing snags.
