How to Rip a DVD to MPEG
MPEG refers to a set of compression standards that are used to encode digital video. While MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 videos are circulated with the MPG file extension, MPEG-4 videos are circulated with the MP4 file extension. When a DVD is ripped, its media is extracted and exported to a digital video file. Handbrake and Free DVD Ripper are two examples of freeware that users can utilize to rip DVDs into one of the MPEG formats. Meanwhile, iWisoft Free Video Converter is a file conversion application that can rip DVDs by encoding the VOB files that are stored on the disc.
