Move DVR 8300 Recordings to a Computer

To move a program recording saved in an Explorer 8300 DVR to a computer, you must connect the 8300 DVR to that computer. To establish this connection, purchase a video capture card. Once the computer is set up to receive the audio and video output from the DVR, use video-capturing software to dub the video from the DVR into the computer. Windows Live Movie Maker is a free, built-in video-capturing application available in Windows 7.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

  1. Connect Explorer 8300 DVR to Computer

    • 1

Install the video capture card's software onto the computer. The video capture card hardware should have come with a software installation CD. Insert the CD into the computer's CD-ROM. The installation wizard should load automatically. Follow the prompts to install the software.

    • 2

Insert one end of each individual A/V cable into the "A/V In" jack that matches its color on the video capture card. Insert the other end of each A/V cable into the "A/V Out" jacks on the back of the Explorer 8300 DVR. Again, match each A/V plug to the A/V jack that shares the same color.

    • 3

Plug the video capture card's USB cable into a USB port on the computer.
