Most modern electric typewriters come with correction ribbons.

Most modern electric typewriters come with correction ribbons and a correction key. This key and ribbon function in the same way as the ink ribbon and type keys, but once the correction key is pressed, white film is deposited on the paper to cover a typing error. Most modern correction ribbons will fit into Simontec typewriters.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the typewriter, and lift the top off by firmly grasping the holds under the Simontec symbol. Continue to firmly lift the top until its hinges prevent further movement.

    • 2

Pull the yellow or orange tab on the correction spool to trigger its release. Remove both spools, and throw them away.

    • 3

Push one new spool onto its corresponding spool finger (to the left of the ink ribbon) until you hear an audible "click." Feed the white ribbon--with the shiny side facing the keyboard--through the print wheel or typing guide, and push the second spool into place.

    • 4

Wind the gear on the correction spool until the ribbon is tight. Turn on the typewriter, and test the correction ribbon.
