      Leave the semi-permanent hair color on your hair after application for a longer period. You can leave it for six hours without causing damage to your hair. Semi-permanent hair colors are actually rich with conditioner so it will not leave your hair dry. Leaving the semi-permanent hair color for a longer period of time will let the color last longer.

      Rinse your hair with vinegar to raise the PH level of the color. This will help the color last longer.

      Wash your hair with shampoo until the smell of the vinegar is removed.

      Condition your hair after shampooing. You can add one to two tablespoons of the semi-permanent hair color to your favorite conditioner to replenish the color that will be washed out when you shampoo.

      Cover your hair with an umbrella, hat or scarf when you are under the sun. Constant exposure to the sun tends to lighten the hair color.

  • After taking a dip in the pool, wash your hair with fresh water to remove any traces of chlorine. Chlorine strips off the semi-permanent color.
