Find Recently Deleted History

When a user clears the recently visited websites on an Internet browser, the user deletes the websites they visited from the browser's history. Every time a user visits a website, however, HTML files are created and saved from that website onto the computer's hard drive. Users can access the files saved on a certain date by searching for that date with the "Windows Search" utility. From these files, users can then determine all of the websites visited on that date.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" button on the computer's task bar.

    • 2

Type "date:month/day/year" in the search bar. Replace "month," "day" and "year" with the date values for the day from which you want to retrieve the Internet history.

    • 3

Press the "Enter" key to perform the search. Allow several seconds for the search to finish.

    • 4

Browse through the HTML files for that day. Click on each HTML file to open the file in the Internet browser. Each website that opens in the browser from an HTML file is a website that was accessed on that date.
