How to Use Delta Tenon Jig
Mortise and tenon joints have been used by woodworkers for centuries because of their elegance and strength. While tenons are traditionally cut with a hand saw, this method can produce inconsistent results, even for the most talented woodworker. However, modern woodworkers can use a Delta tenon jig on a table saw to make the difficult cheek cuts on each side of the tenon. With this tool, you can produce even, consistent tenons every time.
Instructions

1
Remove the miter gauge and rip fence from the table saw.
-
2
Set the table saw's cutting angle to zero degrees, perpendicular to the saw table.
-
-
3
Place the Delta tenon jig onto the table, with the guide in the saw's right miter slot. The tightening handle of the jig should be facing to the right.
-
4
Insert the board to receive the cheek cuts into the jig, with the side to receive the first cut facing to the left, and the end of the board flush with the table top. Tighten the clamp to the secure the board to the jig.
-
5
Raise the table saw blade to match the depth of the cheek cut. Loosen the locking knob in the center of the jig, and turn the adjustment knob on the right side of the jig until the cut line for the left cheek cut is perfectly aligned with the right side of the saw blade. Tighten the locking knob.
-
6
Turn on the table saw and ease the jig forward until the cheek cut is completed. Pull the jig back toward your body to clear the blade, and flip the board over in the jig to cut the opposite cheek cut. Repeat the previous step to make the opposite cheek cut.
-
7
Remove the board from the jig and inspect the tenon.
