How to Erase the Hard Drive in the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300
The Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 is a digital video recorder intended for use with your TV. Use it to record TV shows if you desire, but if your DVR's hard drive is full, you must delete its contents as you cannot record more shows. Delete the hard drive using its remote control.

Turn on your Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 and your TV.

Press the "List" button on your remote control.

Press the down arrow and select "Delete current selection." Repeat this process until all recorded shows have been deleted.

Press "List," then press the "B" key to display available hard drive space. Confirm your hard drive is 0-percent full.
