Change From IE8 to IE6

Internet Explorer is the default Internet browser included with each installation of the Windows operating system. Every few years, a new version of the software is released and is intended to replace previous versions. However, some individuals may find that they prefer a previous version of the software, such as Internet Explorer 6 (IE6), to a more recent version of the software, such as Internet Explorer 8 (IE8). It is possible to configure the Internet Explorer installation on your computer to best suit your own needs.

Instructions

  1. Uninstall IE8 in Windows Vista

    • 1

Click the Windows button in the lower-left corner of the screen.

    • 2

Click the "Uninstall a program" option under the "Programs" heading.

    • 4

Tips & Warnings

  • To prevent Windows Update from trying to update IE6 to the most recent Internet Explorer version, you will need to configure Windows Update settings in the Control Panel. This will involve changing the settings to prompt you before downloading any updates.
