How to Find a Time Stamp in Your Internet Browsing History

Internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome keep a list of web sites you visit. This list is called your browsing history. In addition to the website's title and address, browsers also record the time stamp, the time the website was visited. Find the time stamp of a Web browser history entry by viewing your browser's history.

Internet Explorer

Step 1

Open Internet Explorer by clicking "Start," clicking "All Programs" and clicking "Internet Explorer."

Step 2

Open Internet Explorer's history by clicking the "Tools" menu at the top-right of the "Internet Explorer" window, clicking "Explorer Bars" and clicking "History."

Step 3

View your search history by clicking one of the time spans such as "Today" or "Last Week" in the "History" sidebar.

Step 4

Search for a specific history entry by clicking the "View by Date" box at the top of the "History" sidebar and clicking "Search History." Type a search query into the "Search For" box and click "Search Now."

Step 5

View the time stamp of a history entry by right-clicking it in the "History" sidebar and clicking "Properties." The time stamp is displayed to the right of "Last Visited" in the "Properties" window.

Mozilla Firefox

Step 1

Open Mozilla Firefox by clicking "Start," clicking "All Programs," clicking "Mozilla Firefox" and clicking "Mozilla Firefox."

Step 2

Open Firefox's history by clicking "History" and "Show All History" at the top of the "Mozilla Firefox" window.

Step 3

Display the time stamp column by right-clicking the "Name," "Tag" or "Location" header in the "Library" window and clicking "Visit Date."

Step 4

View your search history by double-clicking "Today," "Yesterday," "Last 7 Days," or "This Month" in the "Library" window. Scroll down in the library window. The time stamp of each history entry is displayed in the "Visit Date" column.

Step 5

Search for a specific history entry by typing its name into the "Search History" box and pressing "Enter." The time stamp of each search result is displayed in the "Visit Date" column.

Google Chrome

Step 1

Open Google Chrome by clicking "Start," clicking "All Programs," clicking "Google Chrome" and clicking "Google Chrome."

Step 2

Open Chrome's history page by clicking the wrench icon at the top-right corner of the "Google Chrome" window and clicking "History."

Step 3

Scroll down on the "History" page, the time stamp is displayed to the left of each history entry.

Step 4

Search for a specific history entry by typing its name into the search box at the top of the window and clicking "Search History." The time stamp of each history entry is displayed to its left on the search results page.
