How to Do Scrolling Names in Powerpoint

If you're showing a PowerPoint presentation at a business conference or nonprofit dinner and need to show a list of sponsors or donors, you could simply list the names on a slide. Or, you could use PowerPoint's "Credit" animation to automatically scroll through the names, giving each its moment in the spotlight. Before you try to apply the technique, though, make sure you understand all the steps to make it run smoothly and efficiently.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a text box on the desired slide by choosing "Text Box" from under the "Insert" tab. Type the names you would like to scroll into the box, or copy from a location where they already exist (use "Ctrl" plus "C" after selecting the names) and paste into the text box ("Ctrl" plus "V").

    • 2

Ensure the correct slide is selected. A blue box will appear around the selected side in the slide viewer at the left of the screen. Select "Slide Show" and choose "Animation Schemes." Choose the "Apply to Selected Slides" from under the "Slide Design" section. Click the "Credit" option. This will allow the names you've entered to scroll like the credits at the end of a movie.

    • 3

Select the "Slide Show" tab and choose "From Current Slide." This will bring the presentation into a screen view. The names will begin scrolling. If they don't start right away, try moving back a slide, and then moving forward again.
