How to Upload TIF Files

How to Upload TIF Files thumbnail
TIF files can represent the full quality of a digital camera.

TIF files are files with the extension .tif. They're a high-quality image format, and for large photographs they can be large files. Because of their high pixel count and retention of image clarity, they are used by photographers and artists, especially in image editing software. You can upload your TIFs to share with anyone both through email and on photo websites. TIF files can also contain documents and other images, although for documents PDFs are preferred as they take up less space.

Instructions

  1. Upload to Email

    • 1

Sign into your email program and click "Compose" to begin a new email.

    • 2

Type in the "To" bar any email addresses in which you want to send the files. If you're not yet sure, just put in your own email address and you can forward it to others later.

    • 3

Click the "Add attachment" button and from the pop up box select the TIF files you want to upload. They may be large enough that you can only send one or two at a time.

    • 4

Add text about the image in the main email box, add a subject line, and click "Send".

    Upload to the Web

    • 5

Create a folder in your Pictures or Desktop folders to contain all the TIF files you want to upload to the web. This will make them easier to find and upload quickly later.

    • 6

Sign up for a photo or media site that lets you upload and share your content. Flikr and Shutterfly are popular with photographers, and ImageShack does not require registration. All of these programs are free.

    • 7

Click "Upload files" on the website you've chosen, and click the button that lets you browse files from your computer. A box will pop up and you can navigate to the folder you created with all the TIF files. Click on one, then press "Control+A" (Windows) or "Apple+A" (Mac) to select all of the files. Click "Continue".

    • 8

Wait for the files to upload. Share the links to the TIF files via chat, email, websites, or phone.
