How to Convert Vob to Mpeg Format
The VOB (Video Object) format is a container file format that stores DVD video streams in the MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) video format. But because of the ".vob" extension, you may experience compatibility issues when trying to edit your VOB file. However, you can solve just about all of your VOB compatibility issues by converting your VOB container's extension to MPEG.

Click on the "My Computer" icon on your computer's desktop. In My Computer, click on the "Tools" heading at the top of the menu and then select the "Folder Options" option from the Tools menu.

Click on the "View" tab in the Folder Options menu. Navigate down the window under the tab and then deselect the "Hide extensions for known file types" option. Click "OK" to exit the menu.

Open the folder containing your VOB video file. Click on the file twice, in delayed succession, to rename the file. Erase the "vob" extension from the end of the file name and replace it with "mpg."

Return to the Folder Options menu and reselect the "Hide extensions for known file types" option.
