How to Copy From a Floppy to a CD

How to Copy From a Floppy to a CD thumbnail
Floppy disks are thin, plastic storage devices.

As of 2010, consumers need to request a floppy-disk drive when they purchase their computer if they need one. Avoid the need for this drive, and the additional fees for adding the driver, by transferring the files to a CD before replacing the computer. Floppy-disk drives also don't have a lot of memory space. You do not need to have the program the file is from to transfer it to the CD.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the floppy disk into the correct drive.

    • 2

Click on "Computer" in the Start menu.

    • 3

      Open the A drive.

    • 4

Click on the item you wish to copy and drag the item to the desktop.

    • 5

      Insert the CD.

    • 6

Open the computer menu once again.

    • 7

Drag the file off the desktop and to the CD. Follow the prompts to burn.

    • 8

      Eject both disks.
