How to Send Ctrl+Alt+Del to a Remote Desktop

When you are connected to a remote computer, pressing the CTRL+ALT+DEL combination of keys causes the command to be executed locally on your computer. If you want to execute this command on the remote computer, you have to use a slightly modified version of this control that Microsoft Corp. set up for this type of situation.

Step 1

Start the Remote Desktop program by clicking on "Start," clicking "Run," typing "mstsc" and clicking "OK."

Type in the IP address or name of the remote computer in the "Remote Desktop" window and hit "Enter."

Type in your user name and password and hit "Enter" to connect to the remote computer.

Press the "CTRL," "ALT" and "END" keys at the same time while you are viewing the Remote Desktop window. This command executes the traditional CTRL+ALT+DEL command on the remote computer instead of on your local computer.
