How to Use an MSDN Library thumbnail
The MSDN Library is an electronic repository of information for Microsoft developers.

The Microsoft Developer Network Library (MSDN) is a repository of information related to Microsoft products. The database houses informative how-to articles, documentation and other information for Microsoft developers. The system is neatly categorized, which makes finding information specific to your situation a simpler process. The MSDN Library is available free online or stored to a CD or DVD for MSDN paid subscribers. The library offers a user-friendly interface and provides a wealth of relevant information for developers.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the MSDN website (see Resources) and click the "Library" tab at the top of the screen.

    • 2

Click the search box and enter a search term. For example, enter "Word 2010" and click the search icon or hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

    • 3

Review the search results. The left side of the screen provides a "Refine search" feature. You can further define your search by clicking a category under "By Source" or "By Topic." The middle of the page provides links to each result. The right side displays the category for each search result and when you click a category, the results are filtered to display categorical results.

Click a search result or category to refine the search. The "Support Knowledge Base" articles provide detailed information about bug symptoms, causes, resolutions and additional information. The "Documentation & Articles" category offers detailed information about software changes and other important documentation.
