1
Determine if the motion light is controlled by an indoor wall switch. Locate the switch and make sure that it is in the "On" position.
-
2
Remove the bulb, or bulbs, from the motion light and examine them to determine if they need to be replaced. Look for signs that the filament is damaged; slightly shake the bulb and listen for a small rattle, which can indicate a damaged or burned out bulb. Replace old or damaged bulbs.

3
Position the motion sensor attached to the lights so that it is properly aimed. Point the sensor in the direction from which you expect motion. Level the sensor and ensure it is secured in place. Use a screwdriver to loosen and tighten connections on the sensor for proper adjustment based on the model.
-
4
Adjust the setting controls on the motion sensor. Turn the dusk control toward "Dark" to have the lights come on later when motion is detected or toward "Light" to have them come on earlier. Adjust the time delay to increase or decrease the amount of time the lights remain on after activation. Turn the delay toward "+" for more time and toward "-" for less time.
-
5
Adjust the sensor control to increase or decrease the range of the motion sensor. Turn the control toward "Max" to increase the range and toward "Min" to decrease the range. Wait until dusk or dark and approach the sensor from various directions to test its sensitivity before making final adjustments.
