How to Save a File Extension in IE7
Internet Explorer 7 files are most commonly saved with the .html or .htm file extension. If you want to create an IE7 Web page or save a webpage from the Internet, you can easily save the file with the appropriate extension by utilizing only the most basic of computer skills.

Launch the program you want to use to save a file in the IE7 file extension, such as Notepad or Microsoft Word).

Click the "Save As" button.

Input the name of your document into the "Save As" text box followed by .html or .htm. For example, document.html or document.htm).

Click on the "Save As File Type" drop-down menu and select "All File Types."

Tips & Warnings
Htm and html both stand for HyperText Markup Language, and there is no difference between the two extensions. The one you use is based solely on preference.
Do not forget to select "All File Types" or "Webpage File" from the "Save As File Type" drop-down menu, or your file will save as a text file instead of the file extension you specified in the title.
